Swedish Meatballs

Traditional beef Swedish meatballs made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg and onions.

    • 1 1/8 pound (500 g) lean ground beef
    • 1/2 cup(1 dl) dried bread crumbs
    • 7 ounces (2 dl) water or milk
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 2 - 3 tablespoons minced, fried onion


Put the bread crumbs in a bowl, add half of the liquid and stir, let it swell 10 min.- add minced meat and salt, mix thoroughly. Add the egg and onion and if needed, the rest of the liquid to achieve the proper consistency. Form the meat mixture into balls and fry in a small amount of oil.

White or black pepper to taste
