Roasted Sesame Garlic Asparagus

Fresh summer asparagus is pan roasted in a combination of fresh garlic and sesame oil. Sesame oil imparts a rich toasty sesame flavor without overwhelming the vegetable.

Make sure to buy Asian sesame oil because the seeds are toasted first, then pressed. Many domestic brands lack the rich flavor of the Asian counterparts.

    • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed & cut crosswise into 2-inch lengths
    • 1 large clove garlic, pressed
    • 1 tablespoon roasted sesame oil (Dynasty brand is good)
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • Dash black pepper


Preheat Oven: 450 F

Combine asparagus, garlic, sesame oil, salt and pepper in foil-lined 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Toss well to coat asparagus with seasonings. Spread asparagus in single layer. Roast, uncovered for 10 to 12 minutes, or until tender.
