Apple Cheddar Smoked Bratwurst Canapes

Little canapes on rye with bratwurst, honey, mustard, apples and cheddar cheese.

    • 14 oz ( about 3 medium) Granny Smith Apples
    • 18 oz Vermont Cabot Cheddar Cheese
    • 1/3 cup honey
    • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
    • 2 slices rye cocktail bread, crumbled (stale or toasted)
    • 1/4 cup caraway seed (less according to taste)
    • 1-1/4 cup mayonaise
    • 1-1/2 loaves rye cocktail bread, sliced, slices cut in half to make triangles
    • 3/4 lb smoked bratwurst, sliced thin.


After peeling and grating the apple, squeeze out the excess juice.

Drink the fresh juice and blend the cheese with the remaining ingredients.

Mix ingredients together.

Slice Bratwurst thin and layout onto bread triangles and mount apple cheddar mixture and quickly roast in a pre-heated 375-400 degree oven until golden brown, about 7-8 minutes. Serve and enjoy.
