Based on a recipe from Epicurious; this
Pear Oat And Walnut Crisp
is the best tasting crisp recipe we've tried. We like to use pears but you could easily substitute apples or other fruits. I served this with vanilla bean ice cream.

Ingredients
Fruit:
2
medium
pears (about 18 ounces), peeled, cored, thinly sliced then cut width-wise
2
tablespoons
sugar
1
tablespoon
fresh lemon juice
1
tablespoon
brandy
1/2
teaspoon
cinnamon
Topping:
1/2
cup
quick-cooking oats
1/2
cup
(packed) golden brown sugar
3
tablespoons
all-purpose flour
2
tablespoons
vegetable oil
2
tablespoons
chopped walnuts
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix first oats, brown sugar and flour in bowl. Add oil; mix with fork until coarse crumbs form.
Combine fruit in 8-inch-diameter glass pie dish. Sprinkle sugar, lemon juice and brandy. Sprinkle cinnamon over. Sprinkle with oat mixture then top with chopped walnuts.
Bake until fruit is tender and topping is golden brown, about 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.
For a healthful accompaniment serve with a scoop of frozen yogurt. A less healthy but flavorful addition is to drizzle with fresh heavy cream.
