Basil whipped cream pairs well with fresh fruit like strawberries or peaches. Try serving it with strawberry shortcake, or alongside a slice of pound cake mounded with fresh fruit.
Puree the basil leaves in a mini food processor, set aside.
Place all ingredients in a deep, chilled bowl and beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
Alternate preparationIf you'd like a more delicate basil flavor you can heat the basil with the cream and bring it just to the point where it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and place in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or more to taste. Strain the mixture. Return cream to bowl and complete the recipe.
