Wild rice is actually the seed from a grass that grow in California as well as regions of the Northern part of the United States. Wild rice is dark brown/black in color and when cooked produce a chewy, nutty grain. Wild rice makes a very good stuffing for poultry.
You can purchase wild rice in most well-stocked grocery stores. Lundberg farms is a good brand and they sell some wild rice blends as well. When shopping for wild rice look for quick cooking versions. The quick cooking rice is smaller and thinner than regular wild rice.
