Tomme de Savoie Cheese is made from either pasteurized or unpasteurized cow's milk. The cheese has a natural, inedible fuzzy, thick greyish-brown rind. The fat content varies from 20% to 40% and the flavor is nutty and lightly salty. This peasant cheese should be served with a rustic crusty bread, a light fruity red or white wine and some charcuterie.
Look for this cheese in a good cheese shop. It's not likely to be found in your local grocery store (unless it has a well stocked imported cheese department). You may find it from time to time at Whole Foods Market. You can also purchase it from one of several reliable sellers on Amazon.com: Tomme de Savoie
