What is Teriyaki?
A sweet, shiny Japanese sauce used for marinating and glazing foods. Teriyaki sauce is made from shoyu (soy sauce), sake, mirin, and sometimes a bit more added sugar. The sweet, salty sauce is used with fish and meats. There are many brands of commercially prepared teriyaki sauce but it is easy to make at home.

Teriyaki sauce is made from shoyu (soy sauce), sake, mirin, and sometimes a bit more added sugar.
Basic Teriyaki Sauce Recipe
2 tablespoons sake (or dry white wine)
4 tablespoons soy sauce
4 tablespoons mirin or Sherry
2 tablespoons sugar
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, whisk until well combined.
