What is Tentsuyu?
Also spelled ten-tsuyu. A Japanese dipping sauce used primarily with tempura. The sauce most commonly combines dashi stock, shoyu, mirin and various seasonings. Normally the sauce would be served with grated daikon (radish) and finely shredded fresh ginger root. You can purchase the sauce premade in Japanese grocery stores, or refer to our recipe to make your own.
Substitute for Tentsuyu
Make your own, see recipes, or equal amounts of teriyaki sauce (sweeter) or soy sauce (salty but less flavor depth)
