What is Roe?
The eggs of various types of fish. There are two types of roe, hard roe, which are the eggs from a female fish and soft roe, the milky sperm (milt) from the male fish. Roe is also collected from certain crustaceans such as lobster. When roe is salted it is called caviar. Roe can be purchased fresh, canned or frozen.
