Pretzel crumbs, crushed pretzels, are used in sweet and savory dishes. Crushed crumbs can be sweetened and used as a crust or savory crumbs can be used as a topping over a casserole or steamed vegetables. Pretzel crumbs also make a flavorful coating for chicken or fish.
Pretzel sticks are easier to crush than twisted pretzels but either will work. Place pretzels in a heavy zip plastic bag and seal. Use a rolling pin and roll over the pretzels until they are uniformly crushed.
Breaking the pretzels up with your hands before you process will give you a more even crumb mixture. Place the broken pretzels in the processor bowl and process on and off until the mixture is the desired texture.
