Papaya
What is Papaya?
A tropical fruit native to Mexico. There are two types of papyas, the Hawaiian papaya and the Mexican papaya. Hawaiian papays are about 6" long, oval with yellow skin, orange flesh and dark black seeds and weighs about 1lb each. The Mexican papaya is from yellow to orange on the outside with flesh that may be orange, pinkish or yellow. The Mexican papaya is much larger weighing in at up to 10lbs each.
While the fruit is normally eaten when ripe the fruit is also used when green in Thailand for "green papaya salad".
