Muscat grapes are grown world-wide as both a table grape and a wine grape. As at table grape the distinctive flavor pairs well with spicy meats like Toscano salami and prosciutto. Muscat grapes are typically available from mid summer through fall.
These grapes are grown in many temperate regions including California, Spain, Chile, France and Italy.
Muscat wines tend to be quite sweet. Black Muscat wine from the Novitiate in Los Gatos, California (now produced by Testarossa Winery is a dessert wine which makes a wonderful summer aperitif or sipping wine. In our family we always refer to the Black Muscat Wine as our "hot tub" wine.
These fragrant grapes make a fun icy treat. Just pop them in the freeze in zip sealed bag until just frozen. Serve frozen.
