What is Kiwi fruit?
The
kiwi fruit
originated in Chang Kiang Valley of China. The fruit was not introduced to other parts of the world until the mid to late 1800's. Kiwis have a brown fuzzy exterior skin with bright green flesh and a myriad of tiny crisp black seeds. Kiwis are extremely high in vitamin C and is considered to be one of the top 10 most nutritious fruits. An easy way to eat a kiwi is to cut it in half lengthwise then scoop out with a spoon. The fruit makes a beautiful topping for tarts and pies. For 'decorative' purposes the fruit should be carefully peeled, then sliced crosswise.
