What is Ice Cream
A frozen confection made with cream, sugar and flavorings eaten as a dessert or snack. The Greeks and Romans ate a similar food based on milk that was frozen. Ice cream became popular in the United States in the early 1800's. Dolley Madison (wife of president James Madison) is credited for making the confection popular in the U.S. when it became her favorite dessert to serve to White House guests.
