Heavenly Hash, according to American Food and Drink, John F. Mariania is a dessert popular in the Midwest U.S. in the 1950's made with vanilla wafers and whipped cream. We show the recipe below but should note that recipes with uncooked eggs are no long considered safe. If you want to try the recipe we suggest using pasteurized eggs.
2 eggs 1 cup confectioners sugar 1/2 cup softened butter 3/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped
Beat the eggs with the sugar and butter until smooth. Fold the egg mixture into the whipped cream. Place of layer of vanilla wafers in a small 8x8 pan or glass dish. Top with the whipped cream mixture then add another layer of vanilla wafers. Chill until firm and serve with more whipped cream.
