Quick Find:
Healthy fats

What are Healthy fats?
The term healty fats refers to unsaturated fats such as those found in olive oil, canola, flax seed, nut oils. Saturated fats are the dietary bad guys and these come primarily from animal products (meat and diary) but are also found in palm oil, palm kernel oil and coconut oil.
Note:Just because a food has some saturated fat it does not mean you should never eat it. The USDA recommends limiting saturated fats to 10% of your daily intake of fats.
Good Fats Made Bad
It is true that the egg has cholesterol in it, however, it also has lecithin. Lecithin is inside the egg to assist in the metabolim of the cholesterol -- there are a lot of good uses for cholesterol in the human body. However, when the egg is heated at high temperatures, such as when a person "fries" the egg - the heat destroys the lecithin and, therefore, prevents the metabolism of the cholesterol and in time, that excess of "non-metabolized" cholesterol builds up in the cells and tissue, thus becoming harmful to the body.
