Also called French green beans haricots vert (vert meaning green in French) are smaller and thinner and more than the common green bean grown in the US. Haricot vert are about 6 1/2" long and are popular in farmer's markets and can be found in some well-stocked grocery stores as well. The beans tend to be more flavorful and tender than other green beans. They are excellent steamed or sauteed.

These beans are very easy to grow. Get fresh seed from a reliable source, plant in spring after the last frost and they will mature in about 48 days. We prefer the bush style beans for easy "taming". Succession plant these beans for a constant summer crop.
