What is Expeller pressed?
Refers to a mechanical method of extracting oil from nuts or seeds. While this method does not use any external heat, the pressure needed to extract the oil does create heat and the harder the nut or seed the more pressure is required. Cold pressing uses this expeller method but in a heat-controlled environment that keeps temperatures below 120 degrees F. Cold pressing preserves more of the delicate flavors so your best olive oils and nut oils are cold pressed.
