Jellied cranberry sauce is a smooth jellied sauce made from cranberries and sugar or high fructose corn syrup. This product was commonly served in the US with Thanksgiving Dinner. Ocean Spray is the largest producer of canned cranberry products in the U.S. They started canning the sauce back in 1912. It was really not until 1946 did cranberry producers start selling fresh-bagged cranberries.
The jellied sauce has been sliced up and served as part of the Thanksgiving holiday meal since the 1920's. Although today many people prefer to make their own sauces from scratch there is still a couple generations of people that still like the canned version.
