Bibb lettuce is a smaller butter head lettuce with soft leaves used primarily as a salad green but also works well as a wrapper for foods. Bibb was developed from Boston lettuce in the 1850's by John Bibb. Bibb lettuce is smaller than Boston and is considered the preferred variety. This lettuce is easy to grow at home and you can grow it from seed or get plant starts from the nursery.
This lettuce is available year round, depending on where you live. The season peaks from summer to fall.
