Quick Find:
Banh Chung
Other Names:
banh tet
What is Banh Chung
Banh chung are weighty sticky-rice cakes made in Vietnam for the Tet celebration. Bahn tet is the same other than it is shaped in a cylinder rather than a square and they are wrapped in banana leaves rather than rush (similar to arrowroot) leaves. Northern Viet people prefer the square banh chung and central and southern people prefer the round banh tet.
The chubby rice cakes are filled with a mixture of mung beans, pork and fish sauce. Click the read more link to read an informative article by author and cook Andrea Nguyen.
