10 green apples such as pippin, pared, cored and sliced thin
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Place apples and water in a large saucepan and cook over low heat, covered for about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and put the apples through a sieve or blend in a blender until blended into a smooth sauce. Return the apples to the pan and add the sugar. Bring to a boil and cook about five minutes longer.
You can optionally add vanilla or cinnamon for additional flavoring.
