What is Anise extract?
Anise extract
is a licorice flavoring made from anise seed typically used for flavoring sweets such as cakes or cookies. You can find anise extract in most any well stocked grocery store as well as online. We like McCormick brand.
Substitute for Anise extract
Pernod (use 1 tablespoon pernod per teaspoon of extract required)
Equivalents
1/2 teaspoon anise extract = 1 tablespoon anise liqueur
