Aguaje is a highly nutritious palm fruit found in Peru's rain forest. The fruit has a scaly looking maroon color exterior and the edible fruit if neon yellow. The flavor is similar to a carrot but has three times the amount of vitamin A.
The fruit has many uses. Can can be eaten as a fruit, made into jam, cooked like a vegetable and even fermented into a palm wine.
The fruit is on the list of up and coming food flavors for 2011.
