Aguaje is a highly nutritious palm fruit found in Peru's rain forest. The fruit has a scaly-looking maroon color exterior, and the edible fruit is neon yellow. The flavor is similar to a carrot but has three times the amount of vitamin A.
The fruit has many uses. Eat as a fruit, make into jam, cook like a vegetable, and even ferment into palm wine. The fruit is on the list of up and coming food flavors for 2011.
