Agave nectar (agave syrup) is a natural syrup extracted from the Agave plant. Agave syrup has become a thriving industry for Mexico. The liquid has a lower glycemic index than sugar or other syrups so it is preferred for carbohydrate reduced carbohydrate eating plans. The product started to become very popular in the early 2000's and was initially hard to find but that is no longer the case. We were one of the few online sellers of agave nectar in early 2005. We bought it from Mexico and it was sold in those pretty hand-blown glass bottles you see on this page.
