The Pastaria and Market announced this Saturday they will be opening the doors of their new location (27 N Santa Cruz) this week (Week of December 8, 2019). We'll post hours once the final details are in. They also mentioned they will start serving lunch again "down the road" once they get the dinner service fine-tuned. We wish them continued success in the new location.
The Pastaria and Market first opened back in 2001 at 49 E Main Street, right across from the old Ferrari dealership* on Main street. The restaurant immediately became a local favorite. The pastas and everything else is house-made, and they've been able to keep their prices very reasonable.
In addition to their regular menu, they typically have a daily special or two. One of my favorites (besides pasta) is their Chicken Parmigiana, which is pretty huge, so I always have leftovers to take home. Their baked pastas are marvelous as well, and the lasagna never disappoints.
I love their tiramisu, and they have other desserts, as well.
The new location at 27 N Santa Cruz is still smallish and cozy but offers better seating than the little Main Street restaurant. It's best to come early or make sure to have a reservation.
Street parking is limited so if there is nothing out front then there is more parking in the city lot behind the restaurant (East side).
You're in the heart of downtown so there are many restaurant options within a block.
Lexington House - 40 N Santa Cruz, Upscale, small space expanding in 2019-2020. Great modern America cuisine, wonderful cocktails and happy hour. Nice little place for private parties too.
Gardino Fresco - 51 N Santa Cruz - Fun cocktails and bar, Italian food, lively crowd.
Round Table Pizza - Small family spot. One of the first Round Table pizza restaurants in the chain and one of the oldest, continuing restaurants in Los Gatos.
Many years ago, in the 1960's this location was Shamrock Liquors, after that it was a little Mexican place called And Chiles.
