The Cats Restaurant and Tavern has been a Los Gatos favorite for over 40 years. It opened for the first time in 1968 under the name Cat's Diminished Fifth (a musical reference). It remained open for years and then a few years ago The Cats closed it's doors. The town was thrilled to hear the building was purchased in 2008 with plans to resurrect the establishment. The rehab of the property took longer than expected but it reopened in 2012.
Even after the remodel the building remains with all the original charm as does the spirit of the food and grog. The Cats features house-smoked meats, chicken, ribs and steaks. The tavern still hosts live entertainment as well as on-going special events.
The Cats has parking out front that extends from directly outside the building out towards the road into the restaurant. See shuttle information below too if you don't want to drive in. Once you leave the Cats and you want to get back to Los Gatos or any destination North you have to make a right turn out of the parking lot onto Highway 17, then drive up to... VIP Shuttle
The owners provide a special shuttle on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 5pm and runs every 25 minutes until 12:00am. Pick up is at the south parking lot across from the Toll House Hotel going directly to The Cats. There is also parking available near the Post Office.
