Smoky Market was a rather short-lived BBQ Smoked meats restaurant in Los Gatos. The store was planned to be a prototype for a nationwide expansion. The location is now Billy's Boston Chowder House. Smoky Market Closed in 2010.
We watched this place for about a year and they just didn't seem to be able to get the doors open. I'm not sure if they had permit issues, build-out issues or what the problem was. Once they did open in 2009 I don't think they stayed in business for a year before they shut the doors.
We tried the food and it was "so so" and pretty expensive for what you got (I understand good BBQ is a labor intensive endeavor) so maybe that's why the prices were so high.
For the Los Gatos history buffs, prior to these 2 establishments this was the home of 2wenty 9ine East Main Cafe.
