Aldo's Cafe is a local Italian Cafe located next door to Star Buck's on Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos, California. The menu includes daily specials, pizzas, pastas and house baked dishes. Enjoy California or Italian wines and beer.
The restaurant is fairly small, just one open seating area. There is no outdoor seating. It can get noisy inside when crowded but it's not intolerable. They serve a nice selection of wine and beer but they don't have a full bar.
One of our favorite dishes is the fresh whitefish. It doesn't show on the website menu but it's always there. The other favorite is the arugula salad with fresh Parmesan cheese and oranges (see below). The portion is huge, be forewarned. In fact, as a rule I find their portions very large, at least more than ample. Our favorite pizza is the Gorgonzola and Prosciutto. They typically warn you that it is salty but that's to be expected given both the key ingredients are salty.
The Italian bread they serve is great and they serve a good quality olive oil for dipping.
Take a look at their menu here.
There is a large parking lot that expands from Petco to Enoteca on the other side of the shopping center. There is also parking behind the building. There is Starbucks right next door to Aldo's so the parking can be congested at busy times.
Aldo's Cafe is the first restaurant in this location however back in 1967 this was a little dress shop called Malatesta's Smart Fashions.
As we walked downtown this weekend we see that the Pastaria staff is making progress on their new location. Tables are in and it appears wine (and perhaps food) is being tested out. Please note the current location on Main Street is still open for now.
I have a feeling it will be a packed-house once they open. The new restaurant will be located at 27 N Santa Cruz Ave (previously OPA).
