There was a little event I wanted to attend along the coast this morning so I downed a couple of cups of coffee and headed out right away. I'd have breakfast on the road. We stopped at our fave breakfast spot for sandwiches. Yeah, yeah, I know not overly conventional but I like it. I ate half with only have the ficelli (like a little thin mini baguette) and half the sandwich. I'd eat the other half for lunch.
I took some coffee with half and half on the road with me and had that as my snack. We spent an hour or so at our mini event then got back on the road. We wanted to hit a plant nursery and pick up a few herbs for the garden. Specifically, basil, parsley, chives and 3 Roma tomato plants leaped into our cart.
Traffic was a beast coming over from the coast to home. This was the usual Saturday mayhem on Highway 17. When we got home we devoured the other half (minus 1/2 the bread) of our sandwich along with some fizzy Pellegrino water.
I spent about an hour or so at my desk catching up on this blog, then did a few things in the garden given it clouded up enough to make it cool enough to work out there. My energy isn't great so I didn't get a lot done. I didn't eat anything but I had a small glass of iced coffee with 2 teaspoons of heavy cream.
I set out for a more of a major walk. I walked downtown a short distance then eventually turned around and came back. Walking is pretty challenging but I keep slogging along.
I drug myself home and I was ready for dinner. I decided to try the new(ish) Nutrisystem Mac and Cheese entree. The overall appearance was promising. I don't typically read the reviews until I've tried a new dish but I have to admit I did this time.
They (Nutrisystem) is getting the less-soggy pasta down. The texture was not bad. Unfortunately the flavor was almost nonexistent. I could taste the macaroni and some thickener (corn starch) in the sauce but nothing that resembled cheese. The texture of the sauce was oddly thick and "pudding" like. After a couple of bites I shredded 1/2 ounce of real cheddar cheese and melted that on top under the broiler in my mini convection oven. That helped give it a little cheese flavor.
I also had a small lettuce wedge salad with some Bolthouse Bold Blue Greek Yogurt Dressing.
This is the Mac and Cheese with a little extra (1/2 ounce) shredded real cheddar cheese melted on top.
After dinner I walked up the street to go to the drug store. By the time I got to the store I had hit my 10k for the day.
When I got back from the drug store I decided to have a bag of the Nutrisystem Vanilla Shortbread Cookies. This are hard but flavorful cookies that I've always liked. I had them with more sparkling water. One thing that was different is that this bag of cookies were oddly shaped. They are usually the slightly fat-finger shape like the upper middle one but this time, all but one was a roundish blop. This didn't affect the flavor, just an oddity.
My energy is pretty low but enough that I was able to make my 10k step goal. I bought one sandwich out, discarded 1/2 the bread and made it two flex meals. My day was otherwise uneventful. The weather got very overcasty in the afternoon so it made walking possible. Tomorrow should we pretty so hope to get more exercise in then. I don't have any flex meals planed for tomorrow. Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday planned! See you then.
