Nutrisystem launched a new program this year called Fresh Start. It appears to be the same as the prior programs with the same foods (and a few new ones) and with the same weight loss claims; 13lbs your first month. I did notice they added some alcohol in the plan for those who imbibe. Woman can have 2 drinks a week. A serving is 4 ounces of wine or 1 oz of alcohol and no calorie mixer. Also the protein shake has changed formulation and it comes in at 10 calories less that the earlier TurboShakes and a few other minor changes to the fiber, carbs, sodium.
I've had all these foods before so I already know how the taste. I selected the Nutrisystem Cinnamon Streusel Muffin (180 calories) with a cup of black coffee. The entrees are fairly filling. If you're like me and you're used to eating too much you may be a little hungry on and off this week. Oh and I added about 5 ounces of low fat milk which I was not supposed to add on week one.. oops!
The morning snack for this entire week will be the new Fresh Start Probiotic Shake, chocolate again which for me is my favorite. I always prep mine in the blender with 8 ounces of water and and about a half of a glass of ice. I end up with 2, 8oz glasses, pretty filling. I didn't notice a big or even a small flavor change but it did seem like it was less overly sweet from the prior formulation.
It felt like a good "soup" day so I heated the Nutrisystem Beans and Ham Soup. The flavor is pretty good, ham bits a little chewy but overall satisfying. I also had about a cup (1/2 of 1 large cucumber) with about 1 tablespoon Bolthouse yogurt chunky blue cheese dressing (26 calories). I forgot I'm supposed to skip the "extras" this week so I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow.
I put the 7 snack foods that came with the week 1 box in a bag. I just stick my hand in the bag and whatever I grab because my snack. Today it was the Nutrisystem Chewy Peanut Bar (which it was quite chewy). Most all the bars have a certain granular texture which I find a little off-putting but hey, you're hungry; trust me you'll eat it! The flavor was an OK for me it did have some peanut bits on the bottom.
Tonight was the Chicken Alfredo in a box (MRE). I added some fresh green parsley to liven it up a little. Forever reason I was tired so I didn't even bother making a salad or anything else fresh. I did have a couple of glasses of water. This meal is pretty bland. I added some freshly ground pepper which helped too.
As usual my two biggest challenges are drinking 64 oz of water in a day and being a little hungry towards the end of the day because I start my day and my meals early. Neither are big issues. I felt very little hunger today. I ate a little something every couple of hours which helps.
When I first started Nutrisystem a couple of years ago (2016) I was working out in a gym 3 days a week. For reasons too complex to get into I've been "off" of that regime since about last July 2018. I honestly miss it and hope to be able to get back in the next few weeks. Other than that my daily step goal is 10k a day which clearly I fell short today. Onward and forward! Tomorrow is a new day.
