I hadn't realized I'd been on such a prolonged slippery eating slope until I just looked up my last blog post. I have lots of reasons and excuses but I'll spare you from having to hear about all of that. My last post was December 7, 2017. Wow, that 5 months ago! I've officially gained 10lbs from my lowest weight back about 2 years ago now. Clearly it could be worse but it's time to leap back onto the weight-loss wagon.
The eating changes happened gradually. First, I stopped logging EVERYTHING I ate. I eventually stopped keeping a pictorial log of my meals. I started eating some "extras" like a little dessert here and there although It's easier for me to cut carbs than it is protein. I stopped weighing myself regularly. Back in April I started a very low-carb diet which made eating many Nutrisystem foods almost impossible. To me one of the downside of Nutrisystem is all the excess carbs. Nevertheless my resolve kept going down and my weight up. The almost carbless diet lasted about a month with some weight loss but due to the food limitations, boredom set in. Don't get me wrong, I haven't turned into some junk-food junky. Most of the foods I eat are still very fresh, healthy things. I'm just eating too much and letting some of the more calorie-laden foods sneak back into my diet. It really does not take a lot to add an extra pound in a week.
So here I am, back at the 'ole keyboard to start mending my errant ways.
Starting this morning I'm tracking everything I eat. One of the best things about this is that I eat less just because it's such a hassle to keep track. I have not photoed anything mostly because it's been pretty boring and I'm getting over the flu and feeling lazy.
I've still been going to the gym 3 days a week but I did miss today given the flu thing. I'll be back Monday and at some point today I'll try to get a minimum of 5000 steps in which is 50% of daily goal but it's a start.
I'll start weighting daily for awhile. I know, many people say don't do it but for me, I need to do it. I understand the downsides. We all have to do what works best for us.
I will start my pictorial journal again if not today; tomorrow, even if it's boring.
I have time constraints these days but come hell or high water, I'll commit to checking in daily. This really helps to keep the "straight".
I hope all of you out there are meeting your health and weight maintenance goals. If not then maybe you should hop back on the wagon with me! See you all tomorrow!
