We headed out for the beach early and stopped at our fave joint. I had my usual 1/2 sandwich with only 1/2 of the bread. These are called ficelle (fee-SELL) which refers the little loaf of bread. The bread is probably only 1 1/2" in diameter, with a crust and texture of a typical French baguette. So good!
We went and hung out at the local plant nursery for an hour or so after so nothing was to be had for snack time.
For lunch I had the other half of my sandwich, again, discarding 1/2 of the bread. Fear not, I don't toss it. I feed it to the birds in my back yard.
After lunch I headed out to the garden, there was dirt to be sifted. We're doing some planting in our side yard which gives us dirt to move. I have one raised bed that needs soil because we've been raiding it for some other planters. I have to sift rocks and miscellaneous stuff out so it's in good shape for the raised bed. At least it was some exercise!
I took a break and had a cup of coffee with a package of Nutrisystem Vanilla Shortbread cookies. I was sufficiently fortified so I tackled another wheel barrel full of dirt to sift.
I showered after gardening and I could have sat down and fallen asleep! Instead I fixed a quick dinner. I heated a Nutrisystem Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. I added a little freshly grated Parmesan to try to kick up the flavor. I also made a salad using the first of the lettuce from my garden and some radishes that are starting to get a little woody inside. I did have to use a store-bought tomato which adds color but no flavor. There's nothing like fresh food from the garden!
I do think they reformulated this dish because the pasta is usually really soggy but the texture was pretty good this time. Three cheers for al-dente pasta!
My silly husband bought some chocolate covered almonds at Trader Joes the other day. I was compelled to eat about 13, which is 200 calories.
It was nice to have worked in the garden as a means of exercise. I still sat more than I intended. I'll hit the gym tomorrow morning. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Let's see what next week has in store for us.
