I'm not sure why I weigh when I travel and eat out. Maybe just to torture myself OR just to keep and eye on my progress or the lack thereof.
I tried my hardest to select something healthy. I had a little tub of yogurt which was artificially sweetened (not anything I'd typically eat). I added to that about 1/2 of a large or medium sized banana. I also had a cup of coffee with some half and half.
I was touring around and a snack was not in the stars so I put off a snack until lunch.
I stashed left overs from lunch/dinner the day before in my room. I returned to my room and ate a fried chicken thigh. I also ate about two large bites of my husband's coconut cake. This was an odd cake. It was a simple yellow cake with a thick cream-cheese like frosting with coconut incorporated within.
I do try to find healthy options but sometimes I succumb to bad choices. This evening I selected a small salad, Bleu Cheese dressing, As a main course I shared some fresh steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce. We had about 6 shrimp each. As a side note, I always get dressing on the side and I just dip a few pieces of greens in the dressing. Typically (including this meal) I use less than half of my dressing. If I pour dressing on my salad I find it just disappears like butter on a baked potato.
Gulf shrimp for 2 with cocktail sauce.
My husband started his official quest for a great Key lime pie. I had a couple of tastes. The custard portion tasted good but lacked the proper fresh citrus acidity. The crust tasted like it was something from a box mix. The whipped cream garnish tasted canned/processed. When we got back to our room I had about 4 bites of that odd, fattening coconut cake.
At least I made my minimum daily steps. I had a great day of touring and made the best of my meals but again, more calories than I should. I do keep portion sizes in the forefront of my brain. This is my reminder that eating out makes weight control very challenging. If you are more controlled than I you an always find lower calorie meals, perhaps not the quality one might prefer. I'll check back as soon as possible.
