Oh well, I guess my indiscretions did make a difference although two tenths of a pound is hardly worth fretting over. Today is work out day so hopefully the extra exercise will be helpful.
It's cool out this morning. I would have preferred a warm breakfast but I didn't care to take the time. I decided to have 1/2 cup Fage 2% Greek Yogurt and the Nutrisystem Granola Cereal. I plopped on 3 raspberries to make it look less bleak. The meal was sufficient to energize me for my work out. I am taking this slow so I don't re-injure my back but it's still a good work out. I took a short walk, just a few blocks knowing I'll be sitting for a few hours. The weather looks threatening but I doubt we'll see rain. I can always hop on the treadmill if I have to; I just prefer walking in the fresh air.
I did a "rinse repeat" of yesterday's snack, the Nutrisystem Nutricrush Shake. I still object to the over-sweetness but It's filling and packs a good protein punch.
I wanted to try something new today so I tried out the Nutrisystem White Cheddar Mac and Cheese. This is a "dry" product that one must reconstitute; not my typical desirable meal but OK. When you open the container you are faced with a little tub of small tubular macaroni, with a cheese packet and some loose white powdery stuff. You remove the packet, add water to the rest of the contents and stir. The package is then placed in the microwave for about a minute and a half. Next you add the contents of the cheese packet, stir well, cover with a piece of foil or a plate then allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes on the counter. Remove the foil/plate, stir again and the Lord willing you'll have something that resembles macaroni and cheese.
The dish is in no way objectionable besides the fact that it is this all-white meal. I added a couple of grindings of peppercorns. I tasted it and it was very bland. I ate about half and tried adding a little ground nutmeg. That actually added a little flavor. The macaroni was overcooked but overall it wasn't a bad dish. I added parsley to the plate so it wasn't this big, stark white bowl of stuff. I sliced another purple bell pepper (I picked the last 3 today) and served myself a little more blue cheese dressing. I also added a few cherry tomatoes from the garden. Mostly new entree lacked a cheese flavor and the only method that comes to mind to fix it would be to add a fresh grating of fresh white cheddar cheese which would also add a few more calories. I don't think it would require a lot of cheese to bump up the flavor. I'm not fond of white cheddar but if I was going to eat this with any regularity I'd give the fresh cheese a try.
I decided to take off for another local area walk to get at least close to my 11k. I ended up taking longer than I thought so I ended up skipping my snack.
I prepared another Nutrisystem Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast in my mini-convection. This time I got it to brown a bit. I also baked some eggplant; I still have several in the refrigerator. I had more fresh bell peppers so I sliced another one and dunked it in more Bolthouse Greek Yogurt Blue Cheese Dressing.
I'm finding those darn Nutrisystem Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Nut bar addictive. Even though they are supposedly healthy, there is something wrong with eating a "candy bar" for dessert. But, I ate it anyway.
I had a good workout and I even hit the treadmill after dinner to get in my last 900 steps or so I needed to hit 11k. Even though I didn't love love the new entree I tried it's much more interesting trying new things. I feel back on track in general. Now, to planning what's on tomorrows plate.
