Tuesday October 18, 2016 Total Steps: 12,220 (walk only) Total Calories: 1203 calories Water Intake: 64 oz Weight Loss: -0 (-14.5 lbs loss total to date) weight stayed the same
I suspected my weight would stay the same but I'm cool with that. The rain is over for sure so I will get out and walk this morning. It tends to heat up later in the day and it's easier to walk in the cool air.
Today I tried the Nutrisystem Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal for the first time. Wow, I did not like this! I'll say upfront I did not use non-fat milk I used water but I'm used to oatmeal made with water. But that said, the texture was like poi. If you haven't had poi, think wallpaper paste or that thick paste we ate in kindergarten. On top of a revolting texture it was way too sweet. I still ate it. I do not want to go hungry because allowing oneself to get too hungry is Cardinal rule #1 of weight-watching. I also served myself 1/2 cup of Fage 2% yogurt. I know Nutrisystem says to eat no-fat yogurt but I really prefer 2% for flavor and texture, and it's more filling.
After breakfast I got my first walk in for the day, close to 8k steps so I came back a little hungry. I found some Nutrisystem Nutricrush Shakes at Walmart for a lot less than Nutrisystem sells them for so I purchased 2 boxes. I made myself one for my morning snack. I don't think they are as filling as the Dr. Keith's Chocolate Cream protein shakes but it will do.
I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for lunch today. I'm having the Nutrisystem Chicken Fajita Melt (again). I purchased salad greens at the farmer's market so I had a little salad with that.
My snack was a lonely Mozzarella stick, 50 calories. I guess we polished off the Toscano yesterday. I headed out for another walk because I needed to get my 11K steps in. I just walked around the neighborhood until I reached almost 11k. I knew evening meal and chores would help me finish up the steps.
Tonight was Nutrisystem BBQ Seasoned Chicken. I don't think I would eat this if I were not truly hungry. Much like its pork counterpart, the visual is really bad. It looked bad in the package and did not improve served atop my skinny bread. I can see why they suggest you cover it up in a bun. The flavor of the sauce is pretty good, a nice sweet with vinegar style BBQ sauce. The texture was odd. There were some small clumps of chicken that when you broke them open the meat was just dry inside. Then there was something "ground" like ground chicken in the sauce. I'm a very visual person so I'm not prone to eating things that look disgusting. But as I have vowed to do, I ate it all. I had more salad with it. I love field greens.
I was a business consultant in a prior life. One of my clients was a diet seminar company. Given dieting was "kind of my thing" I attended a weekend seminar to see what they were all about. One exercise was to have food on your plate (I believe it was a brownie) then you had mix it all up with your fork until it looked completely disgusting. I was shocked at how many people could still eat it. I was not one of them. This dish was as unappealing as that brownie. I think if you disguise it in a bun it would be more edible given the flavor is not bad. As you can see by the two images below, what is on the outside the package does not bear much resemblance to what it looks like served on my plate.
I had a half and half dessert tonight. I had half of a Nutrisystem Ice Cream Sandwich and half of a Nutrisystem Stuffed Apple Pie. I was rushing around and I didn't pay that much attention to the instructions and simply tossed the little pie in the mini convection at the prescribed temperature. Evidently (had I read further) I was supposed to cover the little pie with foil. Given that misstep, I burnt the little sucker. The filling of the little pie tasted like nicely seasoned applesauce but chunkier. This is the same crust as the chocolate stuffed version which is difficult to describe. It's not pastry, it's not bread, it's just dough-ish. All said and done I liked it better than I thought I would even given I over-browned it.
Walking seems to really irritate my back, more so than work outs. I spent the evening with the heating pad. I know this too shall pass but I wish it would pass sooner than later. Tonight I tried to have all my 64oz of water in by no later than 7pm. Drinking it much later is a sleep disruption if you get my drift. It's more interesting trying new foods even if I didn't love love them. I hope my next shipment arrives soon. Until then, ciao (or chow) for now.
