Saturday October 8, 2016 Total Steps For Day: 12,852 (walking only) Total Calories: 1230 calories Weight Loss: -.5 (-12.6 lbs loss total to date)
Clearly I'm inching downward, slow but steady. I took a few minutes this morning to do a study to see how much weight I've lost to date based on average pounds lost per week. I have averaged a weight loss of 1.8lbs per week based on my first 7 weeks on the program. Nutrisystem says that typically people lose at a rate of about 2lbs per week so I'm in that ballpark. I'm sure it depends on how much you have to lose and of course exercise and metabolism. Realistically I think that's a reasonable pace. Would I love for the weight to drop off faster, of course but I can live with this.
I selected an easy breakfast including the Nutrisystem Cinnamon Roll and one egg, scrambled. Nothing fancy but it tasted pretty good.
I had the last of my Dr. Keith's Chocolate Cream protein shake. I'm going to have to reorder. I was debating whether to order this again or the Nutrisystem TurboShake which was pretty good too. The Nutrisystem version is lower in calories but is not as packed with vitamin and minerals as Dr. Keith's. Something to ponder.
Today I tried this melt for the first time. It is the Nutrisystem Broccoli Cheese Melt. The innards is a creamy "cheddar-like" flavor with bits of broccoli inside. The exterior is the usuall whole-wheat, thick bread-like wrap. Broccoli is one of those things I eat not because I like it but because it's so healthy for me. If they discovered that broccoli was bad for you tomorrow I'd never touch it again. I'm not sure I'd bother having this again. I'd rather eat one of the other melts over this one. I served the melt with a handful of cherry tomatoes from the garden.
I'm finally using up the last of the grilled chicken. I combined my usual 2 ounces with one slice of my usual Dave's Killer skinny bread. I threw in another tomato just to make it look healthier.
I really did not plan to have this entree for dinner but that's how it worked out. Tonight I served the Nutrisystem Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast. I would have thought the filling would be the same as in the melt but both texture and flavor seemed different to me. I have had this entree one other time. This time I heated it in my regular (not mini) convection oven and it browned much better.
I also roasted and shared one sweet potato. I tossed the wedges in about 2 teaspoons of olive oil then sprinkled them with Italian seasonings, kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. I roasted them about 35 minutes at 425F. These were very tasty. In our household we only eat the light colored sweet potatoes not the garnet or darker sweet potato. To me, the dark potatoes are too wet inside and have a mealy texture.
I would have liked to have prepare the potatoes with a little bit more olive oil but the flavor was still excellent. I'll have to play with the preparation to see if I can improve it.
I was pretty full after dinner and I took off for a walk into town so I skipped dessert. This was my third walk for the day so I was able to rack up over 12k steps, 1000 over my goal.
Today I'm staring week 8. It's hard to believe I've been doing this for two months. I'm pretty satisfied with my progress. I do need to take time to integrate in more "flex meals". I haven't decided how long I'll stick to the Nutrisystem pre-made meals but I'm sure at least for another month or maybe two. I'll keep you all posted!
