Given my lack of exercise at least my weight is staying steady and not going up. I'm going to try to at least get out of the house for awhile but still keep walking down to a minimum.
Nutrisystem does not specify "flex meals" for breakfast but I made one up on my own today. We have a favorite spot close to the beach that is really a bakery. No, I didn't go pig out on pastries. They also make these nice, simple sandwiches on house-baked baguette, no condiments just a little salami, provolone, and pepperoncini. I only ate half of the sandwich and I discarded 1/2 of the 1/2 of the bread. I was probably in the neighborhood of a typical 200 + calorie Nutrisystem breakfast but surely fell short in the fiber department. I should have taken a picture but I was too busy stuffing my face. I wish I could say eating eased my back pain but sadly not.
I'm still working on that grilled chicken from the other day so I sliced 2 ounces and served with yes, more tomatoes! I think I see sauce making in my future pretty soon. The weather has turned cold, the high 40's in the mornings now so the tomato plants are starting to suffer.
I'm having the Nutrisystem Pepperoni Pizza Melt again today. It sounded like something warm and flavorful on a coolish day.
Dinner time was getting too close to snack time so I skipped the snack.
This is how the Nutrisystem Chicken Parmesan looks on a plate. I've had this a couple times and I always have a difficult time making it look presentable. This time the cheese on top of the chicken all but disappeared when it was baked. The pasta always ends up looking and tasting like canned spaghetti. I did have one small zucchini I steamed in my little cast iron fry pan, then added 6 grams of butter (about a teaspoon) at the end for flavor. I went a little crazy with the black pepper but I like that.
This evening I had yet another Nutrisystem Chocolate Cupcake. I let it sit out while I took one more short walk. Two servings are shown below.
I think my enthusiasm for meal prep has reached an all-time low. I ate just enough today to not be hungry. My back is too annoying to stand up for a long time doing prep. My hope is that my laying low will pay off.
At this point most of the meals I'm having are repeats so it's a little boring. I'm not sure how people continue to buy the same foods over and over for months on end. There are many things I've still not purchased but most are various bars or meals that don't even look enticing in the professional photographs. I'll spend more time looking over other foods to try and try to keep my chin up!
