Tuesday September 27, 2016 Total Steps For Day: 12,138 (walking only) Total Calories: 1139 calories Weight Loss: -.4 (-10.5 lbs loss total to date)
I seem to be on the up and down yo-yo plan. The progression continues to be downward so I'm cool with that. I should emphasis again the downside of weighing almost everyday.
First I want to reiterate that everyone I have talked to so far has been pleasant and as helpful as they can be. The difficulty is they don't always have the tools they need to truly assist. I purchased two plans, one for me one for my husband. The orders were placed on the same day and for the first time around everything arrived on the same day, life was right.
I delayed the second shipment by one week to compensate for my days out of town. This seemed to throw a monkey wrench into the works. My food arrived just as they should but his did not. His shelf-stable items arrived 1 or 2 days after mine. His frozen shipment still hasn't arrived but we finally received a shipment notification saying it will arrive today. The frustration is when calling the representatives they can't tell you when something is going to ship. They give you a 4-10 day window which is a pretty big window. Not only that but they charge your credit card as soon as they do the shelf-stable shipment. If we did not have the other order we received already then he'd be up a creek for food. He would have to be out purchasing what he already paid for and be on his own rather than on the plan. I should add the shelf stable portion of his order contained almost all breakfasts and snacks so there were no lunches or dinners there to select from.
There seems to be a communication disconnect between customer service and what is no-doubt an outside warehouse. I would think those customer service reps must get some pretty peevish customers. Hopefully they'll get a system down to correct this gap.
I wanted to have pancakes but I'm out of sugar-free syrup. Real maple syrup is a startling 220 calories per quarter cup versus 20 calories for the same amount of sugar-free syrup. In my book real maple syrup is healthier for you but we are sticking with the lower calorie program. I dug through my pantry and found some powdered sugar and I had a stray Meyer lemon in my refrigerator.
I sliced the lemon and placed about a tablespoon of powdered sugar in a sieve. I heated the pancakes in the toaster on the defrost setting. It took about 1 1/2 cycles to get them properly heated.
I placed the pancakes on a warmed plate then gave them a light sifting of sugar; probably not even a teaspoon. I served them with the lemon on the side. I squeezed a little lemon over the pancakes and chowed down. Not bad! These pancakes are pretty sweet to begin with so the lemon added a nice tartness and the powdered sugar made them look pretty.
I managed to get a walk in after breakfast about 6k steps so I still have a minimum of 5k to go.
I was actually hungry for my usual Dr. Keith's Chocolate Cream protein shake this morning because I totally forgot my extra protein at breakfast (powerfuel). I'll make a point to have extra protein with my lunch or afternoon snack.
I didn't want to take a lot of time to fuss over lunch so I popped a Nutrisytem Pepperoni Pizza Melt in the microwave then crisped the crust in my little convection oven. I sliced a green and a purple bell pepper and poured about a tablespoon of Balsamic vinegar in a small vessel so I could dip the peppers in the vinegar. I added in a few fresh orange pear shaped tomatoes for good measure. I also added 1/4 ounce of Toscano Salami to make up for my missed extra protein from earlier today.
Somehow I managed to completely forget my afternoon snack. My 2nd frozen food shipment showed up and I had to do some serious freezer rearrangement.
I had another Nutrisystem Turkey Medallions and Mashed Potato entree tonight with more small tomatoes with a tablespoon of my Bolthouse Greek Yogurt Blue Cheese Dressing. I started a project of making up some of my own Nutrisytem-Style foods. The process is time consuming so I still didn't take time to go to the grocery store. Good excuse, eh?
I had my favorite Nutrisystem Chocolate Cupcake for dessert. I sat my frozen cupcake in a warmer room to allow it to thaw then I took off for a walk. I only needed a couple thousand more steps so I just walked around a few close-by blocks. My cupcake was about room temperature when I arrived back so I devoured it right away along with about 12 ounces of water.
I found the perfect recipe for ratatouille so I can use up a lot of the vegetables I harvested out of my garden today. I'll make that as a "SmartCarb" serving and freeze what I can't use up in a couple days. I plan to get some boneless skinless chicken breast so I can grill them. Once grilled I plan on shredding the meat and freezing it in little 2 ounces bags. I can then use the meat for chicken tacos or to top a salad. I really do intend to start putting more effort into my meals. It just takes a lot of time but it's something to look forward to. See you on Facebook tomorrow.
