Total Steps For Day: 11,521 (workout + walk) Total Calories: 850 Weight Loss: .7 lb (3.3 lbs total, body fat % went down .2 %)
Well week one flew by! Overall it was easy, most things tasted pretty good and I was rarely hungry. Today I woke up a little tired. I don't know if it was the low calorie regime and increased exercise or just because.
Being tired gave me a little less energy for my workout today. The trainer set up two groups of exercises to be done 3 x each (20 reps each) but it was more than I could do, so I did all 3 sets of the one group and 2 sets of the 2nd group. It was still almost an hour. Later I still needed more steps so I took 45 minute walk. That pretty much wore me out.
This is actually one of my few frustrations with the program. The system is suppose to integrate with my Fitbit Fitness tracker and my Aria scale. This way my weight gets automatically updated each day that I weigh and all my steps get transferred to the app as well. Well, that is when it works which has been pretty much very little of this week. Nutrisystem stresses the use of the app, and I think that's correct because you get to see your progress, see your total intake and outgo WHEN IT WORKS. Yesterday there was an update, saying it was all fixed and to reconnect your devices to the app. I did that, and today it does not work at ALL. It's gone from bad to just about useless (except for food tracking). I do hope they fix it. They don't even provide a good means of manual entry for the exercise, you can do a manual entry for your weight. I sent a note into support, didn't hear anything back but I'm supposing they got a lot of emails today. Software can be a glorious tool and such a pain when it doesn't work.
I think today will be my day with the most negative reviews. Breakfast was the Nutrisystem Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bar. This was the smallest bar yet, about half the size of any of the bars I had all week. I didn't care about the size but it was very dry, mealy, I guess chewy but there was no discernible flavor or resemblance to any granola I've ever eaten, just sweetness. The little chocolate bits on top tasted ok. All in all, not a fan. I would not eat that again. But then, if you've been reading you already know my feelings about meal replacement aka candy bars for breakfast :-).
I was so tired after my workout and getting hungry, the shake was a welcome meal today.
Lunch today was soup, Nutrisystem Beans and Ham Soup. Again, very hungry so this tasted good to me. The tiny bits of ham are a little chewy and not a lot of flavor but I added some chopped white onion and good 'ole Chipotle Tasbasco sauce and it hit the spot perfectly.
As you can see the little ham bits are in fact, little but the carrots were a little more pronounced. Much of the calories comes from the ham so the lesson here is I probably put way too much ham in my homemade soup!
I had my afternoon shake after the walk and none too soon. I was famished by the time I finished my 45min or so exercise. The shakes stop now, no more for the rest of the 28 day regime. I may miss them, not sure but I'll let you know.
Dinner tonight, Nutrisystem Chicken Alfredo was GOOD! Well, I was a mildly ravenous by dinner time so I probably could have put sauce on my shoe and eaten that and would have loved it. In reality the shelf stable pasta entries have very soft, overcooked pasta. This white sauce was pretty bland but the chicken was not bad and there was a fair amount of it, at least compared to the soups and stews. (I doubt Mr. Alfredo himself would lay claim to the recipe.) To help out I sprinkled fresh parsley on top and served with (yeah, I know) more sliced cucumber, some red lettuce from the garden, both topped with Balsamic vinegar. It hit the spot, probably one of the more filling meals I had all week.
I always like to serve pasta in these nice eared dishes. I made a fabulous spinach gnocci one year, baked it in these dishes topped with Italian Fontina cheese. **sigh** But I digress...
So perhaps not a salad per se, more of an assemblage of a little green and red. But oh so good when you're hungry.
So my fellow dieters, that wraps up week one the Nutrisystem Turbo 10 regime. So far, I'd highly recommend it. I think bigger appetites might want to really bulk up on the lower calorie vegetables so you do in fact stay "unhungry".
I'm perfectly satisfied with a 3.3lb loss for the week. It is said the first 5lbs are water and with many diets that has seemed the case. I can already feel a little difference in some of my clothes, I'm thinking this is real weight loss and not just water.
I'm looking forward to the frozen foods now, hoping for maybe a little more flavor and some better textures. The downside is the next part is more work. There is much more planning involved with all the extras I'll have to fill in. There will be more work in meal and snack preparations but I plan to keep as simple as possible.
I'll report back tomorrow. Ciao for now!
