Total Steps For Day: 10,735 (workout + walk) Total Calories: 685 Weight Loss: .1 lb (2.5 lbs total)
Today is Wednesday, workout day. I have to rush around, get my workout in then come home, shower up, get to the dentist by 10:30. It would have been a good excuse to miss my workout but I really am serious about this weight loss thing.
I really did not eat enough today. My meal timing got thrown off by my 2 hour dentist appointment. I ended up skipping my afternoon snack and having my dinner entree instead so I could take my walk after. Later in the evening my husband and I shared the afternoon snack (Nutrisystem Nutricrush shake). I was a little hungry when I went to bed, not a lot. I woke up about 4:30 in the morning hungry. First time. I did a lot of exercise for 685 calories.
I know people organize their clothes closets differently. Some sort by color then type, some by type and I'm sure variations inbetween. I sort mine by size. I have everything from size 4 to 14, then I sort by type and color. I was thinking it would be handy to have some of those little hanger tags that show the size, like they do in the department stores. Most weight loss programs tell you to throw your old fat clothes away. I've done that before but I always keep a pair, or two, around to see my progress and in reality so I have something to wear when I gain weight.
I read someone's success post on Nutrisystem where she suggests buying "interim clothes" at thrift shops as you lose weight. I've never done that but I will go in and buy something on sale. I think it's a good tip. This woman threw out all her old fat clothes. I really think it's the best thing to do. Will I? Not sure, hope so.
So it was muffin morning. Except for bars so far the pastries seem to benefit from a short 15-20 seconds in the microwave. This Nutrisystem Blueberry Muffin was no exception. The flavor was OK, I'm not a huge blueberry muffin (or any muffin) person so I'm probably not the best judge. It was filling and I selected it because of the protein content. As I mentioned yesterday I try to boost my protein on workout days. It still amazes me that these pastry-like breakfasts tide me over like they do. I never feel weak so far on my workout days even though my calorie count is so low.
This darker chocolate shake is growing on me. I think it's the Monk Fruit that gives it more sweetness than I'd like but, no problem.
Lunch was the Nutrisystem Trail Mix Bar. I would not typically have a meal replacement bar for lunch after a muffin for breakfast but that's just how my higher protein selections worked out. This bar has a thin chocolate coating on the bottom. This is actually one of my more favorite bars. I wished it were more crisp than chewy but, not bad. I would select this an eat it again as a quick meal replacement. My work allows me to take time to cook and prep foods but back in the day when I had a more common office job, this would have been really handy.
I had to skip my snack today because meals were running back to back.
Dinner tonight is Nutrisystem Hearty Beef Stew. It was a little thin for stew but a little thicker than soup. I haven't had a "canned stew" since I was a child, not sure I even ate it then. This tasted about how I expected it would. I was hungry so it was just fine by me. I did add my favorite Tabasco Chipotle Sauce. That kicked up the flavor. And YES, or course I had sliced cucumbers. There is actually a lull on the cucumber growth right now and I only have a couple in the frig. I'll probably make a trip to the grocery store today, first one since I started the plan.
The shelf stable soups and stews come in these little plastic and cardboard tubs. You simply remove the plastic top (notice the steam release holes) , pull the metal tab (mine were difficult to pull on the stew) then replace the plastic lid, microwave for about 1 minute or so.
There were small bits of meat, potatoes and a few canned looking peas. I added parsley for a little color.
I skipped my afternoon snack so I had a half portion around 7:30 or so. I was a little hungry so it hit the spot. In reality I'd have preferred the regular shake for flavor but this was fine.
So this wraps up day 5. So far I would highly recommend this to anyone. If you're a food snob (like I can be) just get over it.. haha! Your satisfied, not hungry and losing weight, that's not bad folks!
