Total Steps For Day: 10,984 (2 walks) Total Calories: 890 Weight Loss: 0 lb (2lbs total)
Today is Tuesday, no workout. I have to really make an effort to take at least 2 walks in order to get my 10,000 steps in. The only downside to walking is that it takes a fair amount of time and you burn a lot fewer calories than when you run or workout. But all exercise is good exercise (at least for me).
Many people don't recommend weighing everyday. I see both sides of the story. Your body fluctuates day to day. Hormones cause fluctuations, heat, sodium and water intake even the amount of sleep you get (or don't get) can cause a fluctuation and the fluctuations tend to be up rather than down. I just like to see my progress so I weigh everyday. I've made peace with the fact I won't lose weight everyday. The body takes time to make adjustments to your exercise and calorie intake. If my weight were to actually increase two days in a row, I would look to see if I'm doing something that causes it, like not tracking EVERYTHING I eat, or maybe not getting enough sleep, or working out too much (haha). I think we all just need to do whatever works for us.
This is a meal replacement bar breakfast day. This is a Nutrisystem Blueberry Lemon Bake Bar. It has the texture of the those fig newtons I used to eat as a child. It was a little too lemony for me, just a personal preference thing. I realized yesterday that I need to start paying attention to my total protein on workout days. So yesterday I sorted out my remaining foods for the rest of my "boot camp" days and gave myself the items with the most protein on those days. I'd rather do extra vegetables on non-workout days.
I had my usual cup (or 2) of black coffee.
The usual. I'm growing accustom to having these shakes as a snack. I may continue them later on in maintenance although they are pretty pricey. I think they are about $2.00 a pouch, OUCH!
This lunch entree is called Nutrisystem Three Cheese Chicken. I'm just not diggin' the freeze dried foods. This is actually a popular item, gets pretty good reviews. Many people said to serve it over steamed broccoli, like a sauce, which sounds good but I didn't have any broccoli and wasn't about to make a trip to the store for it. I must not have let it sit long enough but the sauce was thin. I could not detect anything "cheese" flavored about it, I guess they don't use the cheeses I normally eat.. The only flavor I found distinctive were the bits of sun dried tomato. I'd try this again over the fresh steamed broccoli.
This is the dry mixture before I added the 5 ounces of water. After adding water you just give it a stir and microwave it for a couple of minutes (depending on the wattage of your micro.) Then you cover it with foil and allow to sit and hopefully thicken up.
I think you can see that the sauce does not look thick. I was hungry, ate it all!
Same ole same ole...
This was an interesting entree, Italian Herb Flatbread Pizza. You can see the images below, some assembly is required. The crust, cheese, and sauce are individually packaged. Good plan! It's a little piece of flatbread about 4" x 5". Despite that it ended up being quite filling. The crust ends up a bit chewy but overall, again not bad.
Here are the individual box components, the crust, the sauce and the white envelope has actual cheese shreds, not something powdered.
I slathered the sauce on the flatbread, topped it with cheese (two servings shown).
So here you see the final product. I baked mine in my convection counter top (toaster) oven. This dish is probably one of the less visual appealing meals. The cheese didn't melt, probably because it's a low-fat cheese of some sort. To be consistent I didn't add any extras but some mushrooms, onions or other vegetables would be good. I just added some hot chile pepper flakes.
We had our usual bowl of sliced cucumbers with salt, pepper and red wine vinegar. There must be a dozen out in the garden that will be ready to pick in the next few days. It's a struggle to keep up with them. We're giving some away to neighbors too.
So, Nutrisystem Day 4 was uneventful. Even with my 2 walks and 10k+ steps I was never hungry. Of course drinking all the water tends to keep any hunger at bay. I'm still struggling to drink 64oz of water without getting up 5 times at night to get rid of it.
Talk to you again tomorrow.
