The day started off healthfully. I needed to get to the gym early. I foraged around and managed to find yogurt and cereal. Sadly I was out of fruit of any kind. This granola is really just nuts, seeds and a little sweetener to bind it together. I really like it.
After the gym I took my usual short, local walk. I had some work to do when I got back so I just dug in and faced it head on. At some point I had a light stick of string cheese. Before lunch I headed out for one more walk.
The trouble with "some" leftovers is that they are a little too compelling to eat. In this case I have leftover pasta from the night before. It's pretty calorie-intensive. I heated a small bowl and had that for lunch.
I had dinner plans out so I passed on any afternoon snack.
Dinner was at a local place here in town, a nice Italian restaurant. I rarely eat "meals" out because it's just too much food but I decided to go for it given it was an "occasion". I had lamb osso bucco, which is typically made from veal. Nevertheless it was well prepared. It came with a nice assortment of fresh vegetables and a little pillow of fluffy polenta. I've never had polenta prepared that way. It was very light, creamy, and lacking the grittier texture I'm used to. It was good, just different.
Prior to the main course I shared a salad with beets, goat cheese, pine nuts, oranges and field greens. We dug in so fast I didn't even take a picture. Other than it was too aggressively dressed for my taste it was otherwise delicious. I ate about half and took the rest home.
This "occasion" called for dessert! I had a few bites and washed it down with coffee. The tiramisu was quite artfully served and tasted very good! We did walk to and from the restaurant so that piled on a couple more miles for the day.
Dinner was nice and it felt good to walk afterwards. I felt well-exercised between the walks and the gym. I doubt I could make up for the amount of calories in my meals for the day. In the evening I kept an eye on the news to see how hurricane Irma is doing. My sister lives in Florida and hopefully is out of the way of the really bad stuff they expect to happen. Hope you all have some good plans for the weekend. I'll check back tomorrow.
