After at least two dinners of cheese and crackers the results are showing up on the scale, and not in a good way. I do have gym this morning so I heated up one of my egg, ham, onion muffins and had a few grapes.
I took a short walk after gym but it's already so hot I'm not sure I'll make out again today. We had a tragic morning. An elderly neighbor that crosses the street the same place I do almost every day was hit and killed around 7am. People drive crazy, very sad and senseless.
I eventually snacked on a little piece of ham. The amount shown below was split between two of us.
About 9:30am I took off for another short walk, just down towards town for an errand. It was shockingly hot, already well over 90F. By the time I got home shortly after 10:30 I could barely breath outside. The air is very hazy due to the many fires burning in Northern California right now.
Around 11:30 I was hungry enough for lunch. I took a "green" tomato in several days ago that got knocked down while I was tying back the tomato plants. I brought it in to see if it would ripen and to my surprise it did! I did notice it was not as sweet or flavorful as the vine ripened tomatoes. I sliced it, then topped with with some fresh mozzarella, some basil, salt and pepper and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I also added a few pieces of prosciutto I had in the refrigerator. I split the plate with my husband.
Afternoon snack became dinner. I had guests over two times this week and I served cheese, crackers and some charcuterie. All that cheese was too tempting. I set up a platter with some St. Andre, Morbier, P'tit Basque and Gorgonzola. I cut small slices of a sour dough seeded baguette. It was a zillion more calories than I needed but it was nice on this hot day.
At over 100F out cooking anything was out of the question. We are having a "flex alert" which means we should not use any major appliance between 1:00pm and 10:00pm. The cheese and bread above was plenty. That, and about a gallon of cold water!
Around 8pm I decide to have 1/2 of a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. It's interesting but I actually like the flavor of the Nutrisystem ice cream sandwiches better.
I did not make my step goal but I'm glad I hit the gym. I can't wait until I use up the cheese so I can stop being tempted. I hope you are all staying cool. Have a great Labor Day weekend. I'll check in tomorrow!
