Still Waiting For FitBit
Well, Quarter 1 has come and gone and no FitBit YET! According to the web update FitBit blog the company is estimating shipment in the month of July. Pre-announcing products is always risky business but the fact of the matter is they tend rarely to happen as soon as anyone would like.
Tracks My Moves And Munching Too
From everything I have read and seen so far this is product worth waiting for. The FitBit will track all your waking movements and your sleep too (that's going to be interesting). The online software (image only available right now) will allow you to enter your daily food intake so you can track your daily nutrition (and water intake) as well as all those steps.
Wireless Wonder
The fact that the FitBit will transmit the data wirelessly to your PC is another plus too. I speak from experience as I've had many 'a software-enabled pedometers and an Achilles heel of most are the contraptions required for uploading. Not to mention when you travel there is all that extra gear to carry.
Hoping For Reliability
I have high-hopes for hardware reliability. That is the other downfall of the other products I've used. They just break, a lot and way too fast. I do not treat my pedometers disrespectfully, I don't drop it puddles, go diving with it on or drop kick it across a hockey field and yet still, then tend to drop dead within 2 days after the warranty period is up (and in some cases way before that).
And So For Now
For now I'm still using a pedometer that I think I bought 10 years ago (really). It's a big square bulky thing that makes my hip ache by the end of the day. It is not software enabled so I have to remember to record my steps each day and reset it in the morning. It's quite mechanical but ya gotta love the level of reliability. This may still be made today. Other than the bulk factor it works great. I had to just give up on the fancier ones as the constant lack of reliability was worse than not tracking my steps. I'll keep you posted on FitBit.
