It's funny, but I just noticed the "do not eat raw flour" warning on my bag of Gold Medal flour several months ago. Three days ago on September 16, 2019, General Mills announced a recall of their 5-lb of unbleached all-purpose flour with a "better if used by" date of September 6, 2020. The company suggests throwing it out.
The recall is only for that one-size bag and for that single product with the specific date. The flour would still be edible as long as the flour was cooked before eating. So it could be baked, used as a coating and fried (or baked) or fully cooked in a recipe. Cooking kills E. coli. If you bake and like to eat the raw dough, don't do it with this product.
If you're like me and you store your flour in a canister and don't save the bag; then call the number below for assistance.
