Harvest Nut Bar

The Flavor

The bar was fairly filling, the flavor was fine.  This will not work for you if you have any nut or soy allergies.

Harvest Nut Bar Ingredients

peanuts, soy protein nuggets (soy protein isolate, rice flour, salt), organic brown rice syrup, maltitol syrup, corn syrup, sugar, almonds, raisins (raisins, vegetable oil), rolled oats, peanut butter, inulin, soy nuggets (isolated soy protein, rice starch), glycerin, peanut oil, cranberry (cranberries, sugar, sunflower oil), sunflower seeds, barley flakes, gum arabic, sea salt, natural flavor, mixed tocopherols, soy lecithin (as emulsifier). contains peanuts, soy and tree nuts (almonds). manufactured in a facility that also processes egg, milk and wheat. made in canada.

Ingredient Notes

If you are inveterate dieter as am I you may be aware of these little facts but for the benefit of others who may not, here goes.  When reading food ingredients look for words that end with "tol" such as maltitol or sorbitol all of which are types of sugar.

Inulin on the other hand is a product that adds fiber to the bar.  Another common ingredient you'll find in Nutrisystem foods are soy proteins which are added to beef up (no pun intended) the protein in the food.

As you can see these bars, and many Nutrisystem foods are very "carb-centric".  They do seem to be adding more higher protein food options but if you're just starting out be prepared for a pretty high carbohydrate diet.
