Mooncakes are an ancient Chinese pastry traditionally made and eaten for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival is celebrated on the night on the 15th of the 8th lunar month and is also referred to as the "Night of the Moon". The celebration date typically falls late September to early October.
During the festival revelers moon watch and eat slices of mooncake served with tea. The mooncakes are often offered as gifts to friends and family at festival gatherings.
