With 4th of July just around the corner, we are seeing a lot of red, white and blue everywhere. That includes colors of food, such as blueberries, which get used in many recipes because of their bold, blue color.
I don't know about you, but I rarely get a chance to use fresh blueberries in recipes. I will tell you why: When I get home from a store or produce market with plump, fresh blueberries, the little blue orbs usually don't get past snack status. I eat them up like candy and then don't have any left to be creative with.
Every once in a while, if I buy a very large container of blueberries, I will have enough to use both as snacks and recipe ingredients. One thing I have found to be very good is to add some blueberries to the batter next time you make a banana bread. Hope you enjoy some great food as well as our country's Independence Day celebrations. The photo shows a small blueberry bush. Image by gourmetsleuth.com
